The Heidout
Bringing an Austrian influence to the Basecamp of the Kootenays, The Heidout has made sure to evolve with its customer base. Even with classic items such as Schnitzel on the menu, the Heidout makes sure vegans aren't underwhelmed when going out.
With 13+ vegan options on their menu and hard to find plant-based items like caesar salad, onion rings and quesadillas, you will find a variety of options on their full vegan menu.
Personal Favourites: Vegan Mexican Mango Pepper Quesadilla with Vegan Caesar Salad.
Fire Hall Kitchen & Tap
If you are craving a dining experience that’s one-of-a-kind, come check out local hot spot Fire Hall Kitchen and Tap!
Even with the Fire Hall’s ever-changing menu, they always make sure to offer a vegan version of the classic Canadian comfort food items of a burger, poutine, and wings!
The local favourite ‘Incrediburg’ comes with a combination of two hard to find vegan condiments: mayo and cheese (that's actually melted). Be sure to check it out their ‘chicken-fried cauliflower’ wings to satisfy your taste buds!
Personal Favourites: Peachy Keen Hazy IPA & an Incrediburg with a vegan poutine.
Hot Shots
With their warm and welcoming atmosphere, Hot Shots is a great option for a vegan friendly café.
It’s the perfect place to grab a drink and study, or to hangout with friends and family on the patio!
They offer a wide selection of drinks to complement your meal and keep you refreshed. Think ‘fresh’ and ‘flavourful’ with their many local ingredients, it’s food to fuel your soul.
Personal Favourites: Iced Koicha Matcha with vanilla syrup and almond milk with a Vegan Melt.
Sakura
Sakura Japanese Restaurant has a large variety of vegan options if you are looking for a light lunch or a Sake and Sushi pairing in a private booth.
Sakura’s full vegan menu has a wide array of selections available, so you won’t have to settle for just cucumber maki. Their quick and quality service combo shows the importance they place on customer satisfaction.
Personal Favourites: Veggie Special Roll (with no wasabi mayo), Veggie Gyoza, & Inari Nigiri.
Ella’s
Ella's brings delicious and authentic Jamaican food to the East Kootenays, which includes vegan options such as the brightly coloured Ital Stew and the warm and comforting chickpea based Roti.
