South Star Recreation Area sits just beyond the city limits and offer more than 50 km (16 mi) of trails set amongst western larch and pine trees for cross-country skiers. The Cranbrook Community Forest is great for snowshoers and adventure seekers will find solace in Lumberton, just south of the city, where over 50 km (16 mi) of groomed snowmobile trails await.
