Winter Day Camp – Painting & Pottery

Friday, February 13, 2026 8:30 am - 4:00 pm Royal Alexandra Hall

Let young artists explore creativity, culture, and hands-on learning at the Winter Day Camp, Painting & Pottery. This full-day camp introduces children to the history and significance of pottery as both a functional craft and an artistic expression.

Participants will learn how pottery has helped archaeologists understand ancient cultures and daily life, while also discovering how paint can be made using natural resources. The camp highlights traditional knowledge, including how the Ktunaxa used Namita qakxaǂ ʔitkniǂni ʔaknusmi, red clay paint sourced locally, for artistic and cultural purposes.

Children will enjoy a special visit to Cranbrook Arts, where they’ll work in the pottery studio and paint their own creations. Through clay and paint, campers build confidence, creativity, and pride in their finished artwork, all while having fun in a supportive environment.
