Tenise Marie, presented by Key City Theatre, is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and performer based in Nelson, BC, whose music blends soulful vocals with acoustic instruments and weaves influences from folk, soul, R&B, gospel, jazz, and her West Asian (Assyrian) roots. Influenced by iconic artists like Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez, her work is lyrically rich, emotionally resonant, and deeply personal, exploring themes of love, humanity, travel, and cultural identity. Her latest album Off The Record, released in July 2025 with support from Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia, marks a reflective journey into vulnerability and heritage, drawing on her travels to Iraq’s Assyrian homeland through a Canada Council for the Arts project.
