Bi-Giwen: Coming Home, Truth Telling From The Sixties Scoop
May 11, 2022 | 57 Van Horne Street South |
This travelling national exhibit explores the experiences of Survivors of the Sixties Scoop. Indigenous children were taken from their families -often by force. They were fostered and/or adopted into non-Indigenous homes, away from their communities, and placed across the globe. This first of its kind exhibit shares the experiences of survivors, including twelve personal testimonials of strength and resilience. The Cranbrook History Centre and Cranbrook Public Library, in partnership with the Sixties Scoop Indigenous Society of Alberta, will host this powerful exhibit. Admission to the Cranbrook History Centre is free throughout the day and includes access to the National Travelling Exhibit, Bi-Giwen: Coming Home from 10am until 5pm.
