Kootenay Trout Hatchery
A visit to a Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC Trout Hatchery is a one-of-a-kind experience for families of all ages.
Visitors are welcome to take a self-guided tour and in-season, there are guided tours, educational programs for school classes and you can even arrange a surprise birthday party for your child. The interpreters tailor everything to your group’s age and interests. Kids have so much fun, they don’t even know they’re learning!
Stop to see the western painted turtles in the turtle pond, take a nature walk with a tour guide to learn about native plants, birds, and animals of the region, or help the kids to catch-and-release a fish in the children’s fishing pond. Learn to Fish programs are also available throughout the summer at a variety of lakes and parks. For more information on such programs, please visit gofishbc.com.
The hours of operation are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m daily for the visitor centre and the fishing pond is open from dawn to dusk.
