World Clean Up Day

This year, Columbia Outdoor School and JCI Kootenay have teamed up to offer a community day at Idlewild Park in Cranbrook. This is a free event for the entire family. Our focus for the day is pollution, invasive species removal and wetland restoration. If you'd like to learn about how a wetland helps to clean water, how to get rid of invasive plants and help make Idlewild a little healthier for the fish and turtles who live in it- this event is for you! Columbia Outdoor School will be hosting free educational workshops for the kids and community, and provide all of the plants and knowledge around the weed removal. Here's where we need help: • Weed whacking extravaganza (please bring your own weed whacker) • Planting of the the Riparian Zone around Idlewild Reservoir • Garbage and weed disposal To lessen the load and minimize sharing of tools, please bring your own gardening equipment such as gardening gloves, shovels and shears if you have them.
