Ed Fest Arts & Music Festival is a celebration of creativity and expression that takes place each Fall in Cranbrook, British Columbia.
 

The festival is a two-day event that features a variety of performances, workshops, and activities for all ages. The festival is designed to promote the appreciation of art, music, dance, literature, theatre, and more. It is an opportunity for the community to come together, explore new ideas, celebrate local talent, and be inspired. The festival is organized by a group of local artists, educators, and community members who are dedicated to providing a unique and memorable experience for everyone. From interactive art installations to captivating performances, Ed Fest Arts & Music Festival will have something for everyone!
 
Ed Fest is named after Ed the elephant who escaped from the travelling circus in Cranbrook nearly a century ago. The Cranbrook History Centre will be sharing the full history of Ed at the festival. Locals are encouraged to wear carnival costumes to suit the circus escape theme.
 
All are welcome to come and enjoy the creativity, music, art, and more that the festival offers.

Festival Highlights

Farmers Market Special Edition

Cranbrook Farmers Market takes over Rotary Park with fresh, locally grown produce, artisanal crafts, jewelry, baked goods, and gourmet treats. Live demos by chefs and artisans bring interactive fun, and live music creates a bustling, market-day vibe.

JCI Beer Garden

Relax and refresh in the JCI Beer Garden featuring local craft beers and a lively social atmosphere.

Food Trucks

Sample a variety of delicious bites—from snacks to full meals—from local food trucks stationed throughout the festival grounds.

Lantern Parade

Join the magical Cranbrook Arts Lantern Parade as illuminated lanterns light up the night sky in a glowing procession through downtown Cranbrook. Perfect for families and photographers alike.

Ed’s Stampede: Giant Elephant Puppet Parade

Experience the spectacle of “ED,” a 16-foot-tall cloth-and-metal elephant puppet designed by artist Marcel DuRoig. Accompanied by circus performers, Ed parades through downtown with playful interactions, stunts, and comedic skits, creating a carnival-like experience for all ages.

Workshops & Activities

Interactive art installations, theatre, dance, literature, and hands-on creative workshops will run throughout both days. From painting to puppetry, Ed Fest invites all ages to explore, create, and be inspired.

Theme & Costumes

In honor of Ed the elephant’s historic escape, festival-goers are encouraged to wear whimsical carnival or circus-themed costumes to add to the playful spirit of the event.
