Cranbrook Arts Gallery: The Grandmothers & Woman's Work
February 14, 2024 - February 17, 2024 | 1401 Art Gallery |
With the backdrop of her home studio nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, artist Veronica Funk draws inspiration from the urban and natural environments around her, as well as cherished memories of her youth, to craft a compelling visual narrative.
Using a vibrant palette, symbols, and imagery, she weaves together her tales, employing a variety of techniques to create multilayered stories that aim to elicit emotions and encourage conversation.
Collaboration and shining a light on the challenges and accomplishments of women are passions of hers. Her artistic focus has shifted towards storytelling, with a particular emphasis on celebrating the lives and stories of women through portraiture. This pursuit has become the central theme of her life's work.
The gallery is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday to Sunday. The exhibit runs until March 9.
