Accommodations with a historical appeal

July 2, 2018 | Antiques, old brick, or aged wood bring the past into the present.

Surround yourself with Cranbrook's past when you stay in one of the Cranbrook historic accommodations.

Sleep in a luxury train car or appreciate a 5-star resort located in a former residential school. You may even want to snuggle up in the privacy of a comfy heritage home Bed and Breakfast.

Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort & Convention Centre

The modern and spacious Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort & Convention Centre offers a different type of lavishly comfortable accommodation. For a high-end experience, book your stay in either of their two classy, renovated historic rail cars. To add to the railway theme of your vacation, check out the Cranbrook History Centre right next to the hotel. The History Centre features their display collection of 1920s Canadian luxury travel railcars.  The railcars have black-walnut wood inlay panels on their walls, plus the restored cars exhibit all the trimmings of luxurious railway lifestyles from a century ago.

The Prestige Hotel also has two restaurants, several standard rooms, kitchenettes, and designer suites.

St Eugene Golf Resort and Casino

Immerse yourself in Cranbrook's history and learn about the Ktunaxa who own and manage the luxury resort of the St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino

The attractive century-old brick and stone building was a former residential school. Now it's a thriving hotel, with banquet facilities and a fine-dining restaurant. Not only may guests enjoy the comfortable and classy décor but may book a tour of the local indigenous museum or attend one of the presentations about the culture.  The local Ktunaxa are proud to convert their historic structure into an inviting resort.

The St. Eugene Mission opened in 1910 and was fully functioning by 1912. At its maximum attendance, the building held about 200 Ktunaxa and other indigenous children from all the Kootenay region.

Other accommodations that reflect the past.  These two small facilities surround themselves with antiques and a way of life from the past.

Baker Hill Bed and Breakfast

The Baker Hill B&B in a circa 1920s heritage home is within three blocks of downtown Cranbrook. Antiques decorate the guest rooms. Staying in the cosy B&B makes you feel like you were living a couple of decades ago. This heritage home's exterior is a contrast to their fully-updated kitchen. Their and staff treat you to an excellent, satisfying breakfast. Their B&B building is fully renovated, and you will feel well looked after.

Flamingo Motel

Step back to a simpler time when you stay at the Flamingo Motel on Van Horne Street in Cranbrook. The exterior looks like any other motel, but if you select to visit the suites at the back, you can enjoy the wooden-log interior, full kitchen, and tasteful furniture from another vintage. Your stopover at the Flamingo might let you feel that you stepped into an old movie. This clean and satisfying accommodation is one not to slip by.
