6 Perfect Places to Camp in Cranbrook

May 8, 2018 | Cranbrook Tourism

Does anything beat summer camping?

Awoken by birds in the early morning with the fresh smell of nature. Maybe there's dew piled on your tent tarp, or the suns warmth peers through your window...
It's the burned coffee and campfire toast, washing dishes in the plastic bins, fighting with tarps & tent pegs, and eating potato chips for lunch that makes camping fun.

Whatever your taste and camping style—roughing it in a tent or glamping in a luxurious fifth wheel... Cranbrook has something for you. There are six campgrounds within a 40-minute drive from the city of Cranbrook.

1. Moyie Lake Provincial Park Campground

This 111-site campground has all the amenities, including a sandy beach, dock, showers, full-service hookups, a play area, boat launch, sani-dump station, and more. It's situated along the shores of beautiful Moyie Lake, perfect for swimming, boating and fishing.

2. Jimsmith Lake Provincial Park

This is a small 35-site, limited facility campground for those looking for a little more peace. It's located at the small Jimsmith lake where non-motorized boating, swimming, picnicking and wildlife viewing are encouraged.

3. Fort Steele Resort & RV Park

This full-service campground has plenty of space for whatever you're hauling. It includes an outdoor heated swimming pool, movie rentals, playground, sani-dump station, and a convenience store. If it's more your style, you can get cosy up in their cabin rental. It's even across the road from the historic Fort Steele Heritage Town.

4. Mount Baker RV Park Campground

Part of the Good Sam Club, this campground is within city limits. Full-service sites are available, as well as tenting and some pull-throughs. There's wi-fi, horseshoe pits and bocce, and it's all just a short walk from Cranbrook's Western Financial Place, curling rink, skateboard park, and downtown Cranbrook.

5. Regency Park RV Resort

This small, 48-site full-service campground is conveniently located at the edge of town with plenty of space for tents. Wi-fi, showers, picnic tables, laundry facilities, and more can be found at this family-friendly campground. A sani-station is available for those pulling trailers and RVs.
